Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your account in Pilotta.io, the card game on Google Play and at pilotta.io. The game is made by Stelios Michailidis, in Cyprus.

How to ask

Write to pilottos.io@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my account”. You do not need to give a reason.

• If your account has an email address (you signed in with an email and password, with Google or with Discord), write from that address. That is how we know the request is yours.
• If you only ever played as a guest, tap your name at the top of the game’s home screen (on a computer, you can also use the “Log in” button at the bottom of the menu on the left), then copy your player code (it looks like A1B2-C3D4) into your email. Also tell us roughly how many coins you have and your level, so we can check that the account is yours.

What happens next

We delete the account within one month of your email, usually much sooner, and write back to tell you it is done.

What we delete

• Your account: its account number, and your email address and password if it had them.
• The name you show at the table.
• The backup of your progress: level, coins, decks, tables, phrases and settings.
• Your name on the results of matches you played. The results stay, because they are the other players’ history too, but your name is replaced by a neutral one (“Player”).
• If you ask: your address on our email list and on the Founder list. If you have not collected the Founder deck yet, you lose it.

Guest accounts nobody uses

If a guest account (one with no email address) has not been used for 12 months, we delete it automatically, without waiting to be asked. We delete the same things as above: the account, the name shown at the table, the backup of progress, and the name on match results, which becomes “Player”. This includes an old guest account left behind when you later signed in with Google, Discord or an email address, and the account of a guest who simply stopped playing.

What stays on your phone

Deleting your account does not touch your phone. The game keeps its own copy of your progress there. To remove it, uninstall the app, or clear its data in your phone’s settings. What happens if you keep the app and play online again depends on the account we deleted. If it was a guest account, the game makes a new guest account and backs up whatever is still on the phone. If it had an email address (email and password, Google or Discord), the progress on the phone is not carried over: you start afresh.

Android’s automatic backup to your Google account leaves the game’s progress out, so reinstalling the app does not bring it back. Only a move to a new phone that you start yourself, with your phone’s own transfer tool, can still carry it across.

Uninstalling the app does not delete your account on our side straight away. A request does. Without one, a guest account goes after 12 months without use, and an account with an email address stays until you ask.

What we keep, and for how long

• A record of how hands were played in online matches. It carries no name and no account number. Kept for up to 2 years.
• The game server’s technical log, which notes the name and account number of whoever connected, and when. Kept for up to 30 days.
• Our backup copies of the database. Your account disappears from them as they are replaced: after 60 days, no backup holds it.
• Your email asking us to delete, and our reply, as a record that we did it. Kept for 12 months.
• For a guest account only: a scrambled copy of its account number and the date we deleted it. Nothing else. The scramble cannot be turned back into the number, but a phone that still holds the number can be matched to it, so we treat it as information about you. We use it for one thing: if you come back, the game can move the progress still on your phone to a new guest account. Kept for 24 months. Accounts with an email address are never on this list.

Deleting only part of your information

If you want to keep your account but have something deleted or corrected, write to the same address and tell us what.
